Embracing Seasons in Motherhood & Business with Emily Rawls – Episode 17

by | Nov 17, 2021 | Podcast

Another Wholly Well episode is here in our entrepreneur series, and my guest, Emily Rawls, is a special one for me to share with you! Emily and I met a LONG time ago at a The Shins concert. After both attending Baylor University (Go Bears!) and moving back to the same town, we reconnected through church and Beautycounter.

Emily is a 35-year-old momma to 3 littles, wife to a woodworker + craftsman, and an advocate for safer beauty. She’s also a woman who exudes intentionality, and I know you’re going to leave this episode better for it.

Today Emily and I talk about overcoming stereotypes in the entrepreneur world, leaning into your season, the impact of motherhood on business, and so much more! Whether you’re a mom or not, I believe you’ll walk away from this episode with practices that will help you thrive in your current season. I hope you enjoy!

Things to Remember

1) You are allowed to change your mind. Emily and I both experienced hesitations surrounding direct sales before getting involved in this industry. Like Emily shared, there is a stigma surrounding direct sales, but there’s also power in flipping that script, analyzing traditional models of business, and reorienting our views on this topic.

2) Know your season. As a working mom, Emily shared her perspective on the time she has with her kids. Someday her work time will expand when they are all in school, but right now are the years they’re home. Keeping a big picture of our season can help us prioritize what works looks like in the present.

3) Choose core habits that give you life. For Emily, that is eating fueling meals, working out, and doing her Bible study. What are habits you can instill that bring peace to your days?

4) Zoom out. It’s absolutely okay to take an audit and decide what you want your life to look like. I loved how Emily encourages us with this quote: “If something needs to change, change it.”

The Wellness Wrap-Up

A new rhythm, perspective, or change you’ve made in your life to achieve a life that’s more wholly well.

Emily shared about the way she’s simply listening to her body. That might look like resting when her body is asking for it, taking baths at night to slow down, or having the piece of cake! She and I both believe in a careful approach to rules or deprivations that can easily swing into an unhealthy cycle. Love it, Em!
