Hustle culture pushes us to do more and to use every moment to get ahead. While that may seem good if you are trying to start a business, make some extra cash, or get a lot done quickly, it can often lead to burnout.
My new friend, Heather Paeplow, is a certified Nurse Practitioner and a health and wellness coach. After practicing in the traditional medical model for nearly a decade, Heather found she was no longer aligned with a model that primarily managed diseases. Motivated by her desire to foster holistic health, she encourages others to stop chasing symptoms and go from surviving to thriving.
If you have ever forgotten to eat a meal, gotten to the afternoon without drinking a drop of water, or generally felt at the end of yourself, this episode is for you!

Things to Remember
1) There is hope for healing. Traditional medicine is not preventative care. So if you’ve received a discouraging diagnosis, know there is hope. Your diagnosis is not your identity. There are options for you and lifestyle changes that can lead to relief of your symptoms.
2) The quality of your sleep is a sign of burnout. If you’ve ever slept poorly, had trouble falling asleep, or struggled with waking up multiple times a night, listen in! All the parts of our body are connected, so stress affects everything. Listen to your body and watch out for this and other signs that you are experiencing burnout.
3) Stop waking up rushed. One of the things you can start practicing today is to make space first thing in the morning to stop feeling rushed. If you really want to reduce stress, you have to create that space. When you first wake up in the morning, stay off your phone and spend just a few minutes with yourself. Check in with your body and create room for stillness in your day.
The Wellness Wrap-Up
A new rhythm, perspective, or change you’ve made in your life to achieve a life that’s more wholly well.
Heather says, “Focusing on progress over perfection. If we are striving toward perfection, we are only going to end up overwhelmed and disappointed. Instead, I focus on what I did today that was better than yesterday.” What a great mindset!
