by | Feb 2, 2022 | Podcast

I can’t wait for you to hear today’s episode, friends! The back story: I met my guest today, Holly Higgins, via Instagram where I immediately consumed pretty much every bit of information she shared (lol!) Holly specializes in hypnotherapy for subconscious beliefs, limiting beliefs, and insomnia.

Holly is a clinical hypnotherapist who takes a root-cause approach to holistic mental wellness. She works with unconventional souls to help them overcome their most challenging inner struggles. In addition to serving international clients in 1:1 and group settings, she is passionate about sharing knowledge through her top-rated podcasts, Mindspeak and Healing Business. Holly is an avid homesteader and hiker, and lives with her husband, Sean, in Knoxville, TN.

As many of you know, I have had a pretty difficult battle with insomnia for close to 6 years; I’m currently in the best place I’ve ever been but I plan to work with Holly soon! In our episode today, we talk about hypnotherapy, mindspeak, and healing.

And hey… one more thing. I know today’s topic may not be as familiar to you, but I want to encourage you to listen in! We had an amazing conversation and I can’t wait to hear what you think!

Things to Remember

1) Negative experiences can be re-wired. Even if you had negative experiences with nighttime as a child, that autopilot, through hypnosis, can be re-written and you can get relief from those symptoms. The limiting belief that sleep is scary has been engrained SO deeply that you are not even aware of it. But this can be re-trained! How cool is that?

2) “Hypnosis is essentially meditation with a goal.” I love when Holly shared that hypnosis helps people relax their body. It’s not like being sedated; it’s more like a zen, calm, or chill. The client is in control, and it’s a slightly altered state of consciousness.

3) “Insomnia wants to be your friend.” Holly explained that this means we have negative or incorrect programming because the mind is trying to protect itself from something that has happened to us in our past. Trauma is all about perception — two people can experience the same situation in completely different ways.

4) Insomnia can almost always be tracked back to one of four major core beliefs. Holly shared those four beliefs: Sleep isn’t safe, sleep is boring, my body can’t be trusted while I sleep, or night time is “figure it out” time. Which might you find yourself believing?

5) Body physiology should be considered. But our minds need to be considered too! We can try all the things and still not find healing. Moving our body towards physical healing is important! Cutting out blue light, lowering caffeine, and choosing to live healthy can all help — but we need to see if there’s something deeper. You know I fully endorse this message!

The Wellness Wrap-Up

A new rhythm, perspective, or change you’ve made in your life to achieve a life that’s more wholly well.

Holly shared that she loves to step outside and let the sunshine touch her eyes, as early as she’s able to. She always finds it’s a mood booster & a great way to start her day. So simple, yet so powerful!
