Get ready, friends! We are talking about some of my favorite topics today, including all things thyroid (which you know I love to talk about), hormones and how nutrition affects them, PCOS, endometriosis, and pretty much all the hot topic things in women’s health.
My incredible guest LaKrista O’Dell is a retired nurse and just a wealth of knowledge about the medical system as well as functional whole-body healing. She is a certified Nutrition Response Testing Practitioner and brings a lot to the conversation today.
Today’s episode is a story on healing, hormones, and I’m sure you’ll be able to see yourself in pieces of LaKrista’s story. We talk about the issues in the medical system, how to find whole-body healing, some myths in healthcare and health, and prioritizing hormone healing even in a busy season. Grab your headphones and listen in!
I can’t wait to hear what you think!

Things to Remember
1) What are you willing to do to heal your body? The more things we are willing to change in our lifestyle, the less supplements you’ll need. You don’t need to take 100 vitamins and minerals. We just need to go back to the basics: clean water, sunlight, movement, whole foods. Y’all hear me say this a lot, but it’s SO TRUE.
2) There are no real shortcuts in our health journeys. I loved the analogy LaKrista used between a race and our health. We can run fast on mile one, mile two, mile three, but slowly our reserves and supply are going to give up. We can’t keep pushing ourselves at our max pace. This happens a lot in health — we let our reserves get lower and lower until one day we just CRASH and then wonder, what happened? Let’s learn to listen to our bodies before we get there!
3) High estrogen could be behind your health issues. Xenoestrogens are teeny tiny toxins, hidden primarily in home and health care, makeup, etc. They act as little estrogens in the body. The liver is filtering toxins, and if your life is full of xenoestrogens, then it will just dump the toxins back in your body. High estrogen is a reason for so many women’s health symptoms today including but not limited to: fatigue, poor libido, PSCO, endometriosis, and more. When you get these toxins out of your home, life, and body, you can start detoxing and your body will feel better and be in balance!
4) Birth control may not be your friend. What birth control is actually doing is suppressing progesterone. But, progesterone is your happy hormone, as well as your good feelings, anti-anxiety, anti-depression, and bone-density hormone. Whenever possible, we have to get off the pills and detox to heal!
The Wellness Wrap-Up
A new rhythm, perspective, or change you’ve made in your life to achieve a life that’s more wholly well.
LaKrista shares: “I level up every day! Doing something to better my mindset, lower my stress, and love myself. For me, it’s reading (aka audio books with four kids!) It’s so important to make sure your cup is full so you can stay motivated to pour out.”
